The Unilever Series: turbinegeneration is a project about international collaboration and exchange. It connects schools, galleries, artists & cultural institutions worldwide through a social media platform and programme of workshops with artists.
Young people, artists and gallery staff from Mexico, Brazil and the UK participating in Turbinegeneration worked with Marysa Dowling over the course of 7 months. This series documents the progressive journey of their alliance. Beginning as subjects for Dowling’s portraits, participants moved on to create their own responses to The Movement of an Object. Students from the UK and Brazil worked closely with Dowling and the art collections in their countries to make and exchange their own art and ideas through regular online dialogue with their international counterparts. The groups collaborated, posed questions to one another and refined their areas of enquiry before embarking on a series of interventions linking Tate and Inhotim. Works shown here were created by students, artists and teachers from Brazil, Mexico and London during their collaboration with Dowling. For more of the students works see generationtbc.blogspot.co.uk/
